Butch Moore (1938 - 2001) was an Irish singer that represented Ireland for the first time at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1965 with a song called "Walking the Streets in the Rain".
In his native Dublin, 16-year-old guitarist and singer Butch Moore began his climb up the musical ladder. From playing parish hall shows solo, to playing small clubs with rock, pop and jazz groups, he became the resident singer in the national ballroom and from here, one year later was chosen to be the lead singer with the all-star capitol showband. Butch and the capitol broke attendance records all over Ireland, Great Britain and throughout Europe.
He had 12 songs in Irelands Top Ten and appeared in over 100 TV shows in one 12 month period in Ireland, Scotland, England, Germany and Italy. His concert venues include the London palladium, the Royal Albert Hall, the national stadium Dublin, Cork opera house, Kings Hall Belfast, the concert hall of free Berlin and many more throughout Europe. Butch moved to the US where he continued to play, sing and record with his wife Maeve Mulvany "the folk queen of the 60's". They played the Kennedy centre, Washinton DC, Carnegie Hall, NYC, Mechanics Hall, Worcester and many other concert venues from Maine to Texas. Butch passed away on 3rd April 2001.
