I don't listen to the radio (and didn't go anywhere in 2020 for obvious reasons) so I found Heat Waves thanks to an Instagram ad and I honestly adore this album. It's a shame "It's all so incredibly loud" is only sitting at 1200 plays because that song is EASILY my favorite on this album.

i think there’s something wrong with it’s all so incredibly loud streams, probably there are two different songs and the less streamed one got displayed on the album page. because i alone have streamed it over 1600 times lmao

In short, songs with apostrophe are sometimes split between two tags because ' and ’ are separate characters. The former one was used to type out the album's tracklist on Last.fm, while the latter is used by Spotify, which is where most scrobbles come from. If you check the artist's weekly top tracks, the first version of the song that comes up actually has 900k plays.

Look, big fan of Last.fm’s love a song button, but what I really need is a function where I can state that I listened to this album against my will in case anyone sees my scrobble history and thinks I like this

One of those rare projects that's all killer, no filler. (Ignoring the family tape shorts, anyway.) Each track is single worthy, but the full album experience is spiritually elevating! I was blown away when it came out, and it gets better with age! A true classic!

Shocked Heat Waves hit mainstream radios here at some point, thought it was probably one of the worst songs in this album, lol.

I definitely still prefer me some ZABA but Melon and the Coconut, Domestic Bliss, and It's All So Incredibly Loud are definitely some impactful fucking songs that definitely buck the 'this is shallow vaporwave nonsense' narrative some people have about this album imho. Those tracks got me good.

Sorry for the late response! Life ya know lol. I can see that "hipster bro playlist" vibe with songs like "Heat Waves" and "Tangerine" (kills me how they're on every indie Spotify playlist lmao). I was listening to "Pork Soda" the other day and was struck by how different the writing's become although I think "Domestic Bliss" and "Your Love (Deja Vu)" come as close as they can get. Interesting to hear your perspective tho thanks for explaining!

Wow they've really outdone themselves. I really had no expectations for this album. I purposefully avoid singles now so I didn't hear anything until the release date. But I can barely get through it because I keep repeating tracks. Speechless.
